Technical Support

Try This First

Canvas works best when you use the most recent version of Google Chrome or Firefox. If you are using one of these browsers and still have problems, work your way through the steps below:

  1. Try refreshing the webpage, logging out and back in, clearing cache and cookies, checking your pop-up blocker, and/or restarting your device. These steps will resolve roughly 90% of technical issues.
  2. Break down the expected vs. actual outcomes. What were the expected outcomes? [Example: User clicks the 'next' button and it brings them to a new webpage]. What was the actual outcome? [Example: User clicks the 'next' button, and the page turns white.]
  3. Gather details: Screenshots, videos, error messages, console errors, etc.
  4. Reproduce the issue. When you run into a problem, follow step one. Then, try to make the 'glitch' you're seeing happen again.
  5. Report the problem. If you have completed steps 1–4 but the issue persists, you may need to escalate it. When you report the issue to OU IT, Canvas, Zoom, etc., be sure to include details (like screenshots), what type of computer you're using, and the operating system.
